BOJ cites need to further promote digital currency, JAMDEX

The Bank Jamaica says the amount of digital currency, JAMDEX in circulation climbed by $600,000 to $259.1 million since the start of this year.

The bank adds that JAMDEX now accounts for less than one per cent of the total $273 billion in circulation.

Natalie Haynes, Deputy Governor financial markets and payment systems,  says the slow growth of JAMDEX means more effort  is required to promote its use for day to day transactions.
