Japan’s Nissan Motor Company has teamed up with Usain Bolt to develop a special edition of its flagship sports car, the GT-R.
The Jamaican runner was also given a position as a brand ambassador for the 196 miles per hour car, being named the “Director of Excitement” at Nissan’s world headquarters this week.
Nissan also used the opportunity to show off a one of a kind gold-painted GT-R, featuring Bolt’s signature, to be auctioned for the athlete’s personal charity.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Bolt said he hopes to use the opportunity to help make Nissan a more exciting brand for drivers.
Nissan Chief Operating Officer, Toshiyuki Shiga, was present to unveil the GT-R, which comes with bespoke interior fittings finished in real gold.
The proceeds of the car’s auction will go to the Usain Bolt Foundation, formed to create educational and cultural opportunities for children and young people in Jamaica.
