Yago Castro, Managing Director, Carib Cement Company
Caribbean Cement Company Limited says it has been able to fully meet local demand for its products.
Over the last few quarters, there has been a marginal drop in construction output, which has also affected the local purchase of cement.
This has allowed the company however to explore export opportunities.
At the weekend, the company exported 3,400 metric tonnes of cement to the Turks & Caicos Islands.
Managing Director of Carib Cement Company, Yago Castro, says with a number of possible regional export opportunities, Carib Cement hopes to reduce cement imports by territories in the region.
Carib Cement says it will further increase exports of its cement products when it completes its US$40 million kiln expansion project.
This will result in an increase in production capacity of up to 30 per cent.
The company says the project is moving apace, with engineers called in from Mexico-based Cemex to conduct assessments.
