Poultry industry contributes $310 billion to Jamaican economy - study

 
A new study commissioned by the Caribbean Poultry Association and conducted by Ernst and Young Caribbean estimates the contribution of the poultry industry to the Jamaican economy is $310 billion or almost 9% of GDP. 
 
The study, the first of its kind in the region, also stressed that the industry can satisfy 88% of the local demand for poultry meat. 
 
Managing Director of Ernst and Young Caribbean, Christopher Sambrano, says the poultry industry is important to Jamaica's GDP growth, employment creation, food security and nutrition.
