Caribbean Chemicals pledges support to increase farming in the east

Managing Director of Caribbean Chemicals Jamaica, Graham Dunkley, says he is focusing on helping the farmers in eastern Jamaica to improve their production and productivity in order to compensate for the losses caused by Hurricane Melissa in western and central Jamaica.

Mr. Dunkely says the farmers in eastern Jamaica grow several of the crops which were grown in the devastated areas, but not with the same level of intensity.

He says Caribbean Chemicals will be working with the Plant Quarantine Division to ensure that seeds are made available to farmers in the east.

The assistance will also include the deployment of the company's agronomy team to help the farmers with free technical advice.
