Carnival 2021 activities postponed

It has been announced that the organizers of Carnival in Jamaica will forego the annual road march and related activities for April 2021, until further notice.

In a media release Tuesday, Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett said the Government was mindful of the significant economic loss the postponement would have on the country, as the event generates billions annually, with many small and medium sized enterprises benefitting from the celebrations.

However, he said despite the ongoing implementation of vaccines, the Government must continue to put strong measures in place to prevent unnecessary exposure of Jamaicans and visitors, to the deadly disease.
