Jamaica-based Couples Resorts is in negotiations to purchase a hotel property in Barbados.
The company is looking to take over the 280-room Almond Casuarina Beach Resort.
This was confirmed in a release issued Monday by Glenn Lawrence, Couples’ chief executive officer Glenn Lawrence and Casuarina Chairman Anthony King.
The negotiations are expected to conclude by January 31 at which time a more detailed statement will be issued.
Operations at Almond Casuarina will continue normally during the negotiations and all forward bookings will be honoured up to May 31.
After that, Couples said it is intended that the resort will be re-branded under the Couples Resorts umbrella.
Couples Resorts currently owns and operates four properties in Jamaica, including the Couples Tower Isle, Couples San Souci, Couples Swept Away and Couples Negril.
