The American business news service, Bloomberg, says the Jamaican dollar is the worst performing currency among 20 Caribbean and Latin American currencies it has been tracking after the Argentine Peso.
The dollar opens foreign currency trading Thursday morning at an average J$95.21.
The currency has lost 4 per cent against the US dollar in the past three months and 24 per cent over the past five years.
In the meantime, it is costing J$95.00 for the Canadian dollar and J$149.65 for the pound sterling.
