Profits at Nissan jumped sharply in the January to March quarter as the carmaker pushed aggressively into fast-growing markets.
The company reported a net profit of 75 billion yen up from 31 billion yen a year earlier.
Nissan said its global sales reached 4.8 million units in the 2011 financial year, a record for the company.
Nissan recovered quickly from natural disasters in Japan and Thailand last year that disrupted supply chains.
