Gulf countries ripe for Jamaica's tourism picking

Regional Representative for the Jamaica Tourist Board, Vijay D'Souza, says the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) market, with a per capita GDP of US$38,000, remains largely untapped but holds tremendous potential for Jamaica.

He noted that the region - which includes Saudi Arabia with 34 million people and United Arab Emirates with 11 million and Oman's 5 million - represents a high-value audience that Jamaica must strategically position itself to attract.

According to D'Souza, success in this market will depend on Jamaica's ability to clearly communicate its offerings and deliver premium experiences.

This includes providing five-star accommodations, Arabic-speaking concierge services, halal certified dining options, luxury transfers, and ensuring a high level of privacy and cultural sensitivity for visitors from the GCC.
