General Manager of the Melia Braco Village, Dmitris Kosvogiannis is calling on local tourism interests to implement a body to review hotel properties and assign ratings to them.
On Tuesday, Kosvogiannis who gave an update on the progress of the Melia Braco Village's refurbishing project, said he intends to make the new property the only six star property in Jamaica.
"We should have some sort of qualified attributes that makes a hotel a five, six, seven star hotel. The attributes that we as a team will implement will be attributes found internationally to qualify as a six star hotel," he declared.
He said, being a six star hotel does not mean doing away with Jamaican treats such as jerked chicken or entertainment, but it means transitioning to a new stage of the market, to make the country able to charge higher room rates.
