Jamaica achieves 80% of provisions under WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement

 
Jamaica has achieved over 80% of the provisions as it moves towards a full implementation under the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement through the work of the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA).
 
The JCA Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer Velma Ricketts Walker, told the launch of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Accelerate Trade Facilitation Programme that the JCA has been integral to the efforts.
 
The Commissioner says that the efforts of the JCA have led to the institutionalisation of the Authorised Economic Operator Programme, which now includes more than 150 registered operators, as well as the operationalisation of the Jamaica Single Window for trade, which now serves a 13-border regulatory agencies and more than 12,000 users.
