The resilience of Jamaica's agricultural sector to climate change has been boosted with the handover of an upgraded US$200,000 seed bank facility at the Bodles Research Station in St. Catherine.
The facility is expected to improve the station's ability to increase its seed-producing capacity, as well as house seeds of climate-resilient crop varieties.
The seed bank facility, which was refurbished with grant funding from the Inter-American Development Bank, is the first of its kind in the Caribbean and will also serve other CARICOM member states.
