Jamaica National has
retained the position of being the country's largest building society in terms
of asset base.
According to the Bank of Jamaica's latest report on the assets and liabilities of building societies, Jamaica National held $57 billion at the end of June.
Its rival, Victoria Mutual, had an asset base of $41.8 billion.
Scotia Jamaica Building Society had an asset base of $7.6 billion followed by First Caribbean Building Society with $5.4 billion.
The four building societies had a combined asset base of $112 billion.
With $93 billion in liabilities there was $19 billion in total capital.
