Jamaica to see big boost for Irish potato, onion production

The government will be spending an estimated $230 million to increase Irish potato production.

The Ministry of Agriculture says the money will also be used assist onion farmers as part of its strategy to boost the yield of specific crops, to ensure food security.

Portfolio Minister, Floyd Green, says one of the objectives is to increase Irish potato production by 20 tons per hectare over the 2023 to 2024 period.
