Jamaica's CARICOM exports decline for 1st five months of 2024

Jamaica saw a decline in earnings from CARICOM exports for the first five months of this year.

Exports to the rest of the region earned the country $US55.9 million during the five-month period this year, which, according to the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN), was a 13.6 per cent drop from  the US$64.7 million recorded for the corresponding period in 2023.

The International Merchandise Trade Bulletin, published by STATIN, says the decrease was due largely to lower exports of Mineral Fuels.

This was valued at US$8.2 million, down from $20.7 million froM January to May last year.
