JAMPRO to remove exporter registration requirement on Oct. 1

The Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) is removing its exporter registration requirement, effective October 1.

JAMPRO says this will simplify the country's export procedures, allowing people to directly send goods overseas through the Jamaica Single Window for Trade (JSWIFT) and ASYCUDA platforms.

Prior to carrying out export shipments, all exporters are currently required to register with JAMPRO on ExportJA, an online exporter registration platform which is integrated into the Jamaica Customs Agency's ASYCUDA system.

But discussions involving JAMPRO, the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Port Authority of Jamaica, and the Jamaica Customs Agency, resulted in the decision to remove the registration requirements and fees.

JAMPRO says where permits or licenses are required, exporters can initiate their requests to obtain a permit via the JSWIFT platform from any of the ten Border Regulatory Agencies currently onboarded with their related e-services.

Exporters not requiring permits or licences can submit their export declarations via the ASYCUDA System or through the services of a licensed customs broker, when ready to ship.
