JPS says 70% of electricity in Rocky Point, Clarendon is stolen

 
The Jamaica Public Service Company says 70% of the electricity consumed in Rocky Point, Clarendon is stolen. 
 
The power company argued that, it is causing major damage to the streetlights in the community, leaving residents in the darkness. 
 
JPS also argued that these illegal connections and danger public safety and security, while adding that its teams are currently working with the Clarendon Municipal Corporation to keep the lights on in the parish. 
 
The company also says 98% of the streetlights across the country are consistently functional, and noted that 1,120 of these lights were repaired during September under its streetlight repair programme.
