Kingston Free Zone has announced it will have to enter into discussions with the Port Authority of Jamaica on how its clients will be integrated into the plans for port expansion.
The company, in its 2013/14 annual report, said lease offers to its clients expire at the end of this year.
But it said, given that it is situated on lands contiguous to the Kingston Container Terminal, which is being privatized, along with the thrust to develop a near shore logistics sector, it will have to re-evaluate the role it plays with its clients.
It said, in addition to the logistics sector, it could leverage its vast knowledge in property management in the new Special Economic Zones which will replace the free zones.
Kingston Free Zone had 35 clients at the end of its last financial year.
