Lee-Chin one of the world’s riches people

  Jamaican-born billionaire Michael Lee-Chin has again made Forbes Magazine's Annual List of the world's richest people.

The list which was released Thursday ranks Mr. Lee-Chin 667 out of the world's 1,125 billionaires.

Mr. Lee-Chin, who is based in Canada where he made his fortune from mutual funds, is reported to have a net worth of US$1.8 billion.

Apart from a significant share holding in the National Commercial Bank, Mr. Lee-Chin, 57, is listed as having a stake in Total Finance in Trinidad and Columbus Communications, a cable company in Barbados.

According to Forbes Magazine, his personal real estate portfolio includes 250 acres of beach front property in Ocho Rios, St. Ann and homes in Canada and Florida.

For the first time in 13 years Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates failed to get the number one position on the Forbes List.

US investment guru Warren Buffett ousted Mr. Gates as the world's richest man.

Mr. Buffett's wealth increased by $10 billion last year to $62 billion, while

Mr. Gates's fortune climbed by $2 billion, during the same period.

This dragged him down to third, with a fortune of $58 billion.

He was narrowly piped into second place by the Mexican communications magnate Carlos Helu who has a net worth of $60 billion dollars.
