Main Index of Jamaica Stock Exchange rose 3% last year

Managing Director of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Dr. Marlene Street Forrest has revealed that the main index climbed by three per cent last year.

She says market capitalisation stood at 2.10 trillion, or 63.85% of GDP, last year, despite the negative effects of the high interest rate regime on stock prices.

Dr Street Forest says she expects this positive momentum to continue and strengthen if commercial banks reduced their lending rates.
