Jamaica now has a chance to reduce its trade deficit with Trinidad & Tobago, after the state-owned refinery, Petrojam, inked a deal valued at US$90 million to supply that country with high and low sulphur fuel oil this year.
Under the agreement, the state-owned oil refinery will supply the twin-island republic with up to 90,000 barrels of oil per month to refuel ships.
Jamaica's trade deficit with Trinidad & Tobago stood at US$74.10 million in 2023.
