Petrojam-the state owned oil refinery- tripled its asphalt production to 230,000 barrels annually last year.
This is up from 84 thousand barrels during the previous year, following a US$2 million investment.
General Manager Telroy Morgan says the expansion is a strategic response to changing market demand and the decline in heavy fuel oil sales.
He adds that the move strengthens Petrojam's role as a key supplier for Jamaican infrastructure projects, while positioning the company as a competitive exporter to the wider Caribbean.
