Pure National has officially resumed full local production and distribution of ice, signalling the end of its temporary importation phase.
The company is now manufacturing ice exclusively at its newly rebuilt facility in Kingston, which is fully operational and supplying wholesale and retail customers across the island.
Pure National, a parent company of Pure National Ice, Happy Ice and Happy Water, says this marks a major milestone in its recovery, allowing it to provide locally produced ice at lower costs.
Managing Director Theresa Lindo says the resumption of production could not have come at a better time following the devastation of Hurricane Melissa.
The upgraded facility rebuilt after a fire destroyed the previous plant in November 2024 features a 70 tonne high-capacity ice-maker designed for faster production, reduced energy use and greater product consistency.
Pure National says it remains committed to supporting Jamaica's recovery and ensuring affordable, reliable access to clean water and ice across the island.
