Radio Jamaica Limited seeks earnings boost, using advanced technology

Radio Jamaica Limited says it is working to boost earnings from overseas, after recently embarking on what it says is the country's most ambitious audio-visual diversification project.

Radio Jamaica which owns the free-to-air station, Television Jamaica, and three cable television stations - TVJSN, RETV and JNN (along with three radio stations) - said, in its published annual report, that it has adopted Over-the-Top-Television (OTT) technology to help in this quest.

With this technology, the company says its "catch up" TV services in Jamaica and on demand TV services at home and abroad are being introduced in phases.

It says, with these offerings, it can pursue opportunities in online subscription television globally while achieving earnings from advertising markets overseas.
