RESL applies for water and sewerage rate increase

Richmond Environmental Services Limited (RESL) has applied for increased water and sewerage rates.

The company submitted a tariff application to the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) for an average increase of 244 per cent.

Additionally, the OUR says RESL proposes to introduce a service charge to its rate structure, as it had none before.

RESL further requested that a price adjustment mechanism be applied to its rates and charges.

According to RESL, the new rates are necessary to reverse years of accumulated losses and ensure that the business can carry on while providing an opportunity for planned capital and technological improvements, debt repayment, and improved operational efficiency.

The last tariff increase granted to RESL by the OUR was approved in April 2020.

RESL is a Montego Bay-based limited liability provider of water and sewerage services.
