The Small Business Association of Jamaica (SBAJ) has signed a series of partnership agreements aimed at strengthening the capacity of small businesses and improving their access to financing and government contracts.
Speaking on Radio Jamaica's Real Business on Tuesday, executive member Kevin Frith said that the association signed a memorandum of understanding with the Liberty Business, which trades as Flow, to provide training for members in data management and digital skills.
Mr. Frith also disclosed that the SBAJ has entered into a separate agreement with the Development Bank of Jamaica, under which members will receive management training and guidance on meeting the requirements to qualify for the DBJ's affordable financing programmes.
He said the initiative is designed to help more small businesses access funding by improving their management practices and financial readiness.
In addition, the SBAJ has signed an agreement with the Public Procurement Commission to simplify the process for small businesses seeking government contracts.
Mr. Frith said the partnership is intended to help more members benefit from the policy that reserves 20 per cent of eligible government contracts for the micro, small and medium sized business sector.
