Scotia Group Jamaica has reported a 14 per cent increase in net profit for the six months ended April.

President and CEO of Scotia Group Audrey Tugwell Henry says the financial group posted earnings of J$8.54 billion after tax for the six-month period.

For the second quarter in 2023, Scotia made J$4.12 billion, after tax.

Scotia Group's total revenues, excluding expected credit losses for the six months ended April, grew by J$3.5 billion, amounting to $30.5 billion.

This was mainly due to an increase in net interest income.

The group faced increased costs, however, with operating expenses coming in at J$6.78 billion.
