SRC seeking capital for expansion

Executive Director of the Scientific Research Council Charah Watson says the agency needs a bigger capital and recurrent budget to expand its facility.

She argues that the SRC needs to buy new state-of-the art equipment and to employ the staff needed to help the manufacturing sector become more innovative and competitive.

Ms Watson, speaking Thursday in an interview on Real Business, on Power 106FM,  stressed that its pilot plant only has a capacity of 120 gallons and as result, the Council needs a bigger one to help members of the manufacturing sector.

She also stressed that the cost to run the agency is increasing, while adding that it is currently working on an expansion proposal with a view to approaching members of the PSOJ, JMEA, the public sector, and possibly international sources for assistance.

Ms Watson said however that this is not going to happen overnight, while adding that the agency will continue to do its best with the available resources.
