Supreme Ventures reports lower profit for second quarter of 2024

Local gaming company Supreme Ventures made lower profit in its second quarter compared with the similar period in 2023.

For the three months ended June, the company made J$475.3 million after tax, compared with just over a billion dollars for the similar period last year.

The quarter's performance lowered the year to date post tax result to $1.3 billion, down from $1.7 billion.

The quarter's results were lower due to higher direct costs as linked to increased prize winning payouts and higher selling and administrative expenses.

The April to June profit was supported by gaming income of J$12.76 billion, a marginal drop compared with $12.77 billion posted last year.

This brought the six-month revenue to J$25.8 billion, representing about a $200 million drop.

During the quarter, Supreme Ventures says it introduced new offerings for some of its gaming products.

On the fintech side, SVL entered the remittance and bill payment space, forging a strategic partnership with Ria Money Transfer.
