WestJet to add more Jamaican routes

Jamaica's efforts to woo more tourists from Canada have gotten a boost.

Canadian based airline, WestJet Thursday announced it will add more flights to Jamaica this winter, providing a boost for efforts to get more tourists from Canada to Jamaica.

Canada has been Jamaica's biggest growth market in recent years.

Growth from that market was over 22% in 2009 and indications are that the growth will continue in double digits this year.

The announcement by WestJet comes as the Tourism Ministry spends millions of dollars to repair Jamaica's image in the international marketplace following May's violence in West Kingston.
