Controversy reigns over Rihanna’s Man Down video

There have been mixed reviews about singer Rihanna's latest music video Man Down, both locally and internationally.

The video has been stirring a whirlwind of controversy since its release.

In the video the 23 year old Babadian singer portrays a rape victim who commits premeditated murder against her offender.

She shoots him.

The Parents Television Council joined with Industry Ears and Enough Is Enough Campaign to condemn the video, deeming it too violent.

Jamaicans too have had lots to say, claiming it protrays Jamaica in a negative light.

The groups are also angry because Rihanna had promoted the video on her Twitter account stating it has a "very strong underlying message 4 girls like her" while some argue others have been applauding Rihanna for showing a reality that many women have to face.

Man Down was shot in Portland at the beginning of May.

It was directed by US director Anthony Mandler using some Jamaican crew.
