Documentary on Jamaican sprinters lauded

A documentary on the unprecedented success of the Jamaican sprinters at the 2008 Olympics titled, Why Do Jamaicans Run So Fast?, has received several international awards. 

The Miguel Galofré-directed film has received the Guirlande O’Honneur for Best Sports Documentary at the Milano International FICTS Festival, the award for Best Film and Best Director at the Palermo Sport Film Festival and honorable mention at the American Black Film Festival in Miami.

The documentary features interviews with the Jamaican medal winners, their coaches and their fans and seeks to explore the reasons behind Jamaica’s sprinting success.

The reasons put forward by the film are unusual and sometimes hilarious.
