Preliminary enquiry into Vybz Kartel’s murder case

It will be known today, Friday February 24, whether the preliminary enquiry into the murder case involving dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel is to be transferred to the Home Circuit Court.

The matter failed to get off  the ground before the Gun Court section of the Corporate Area Criminal Court on February 3.

The Court was told that the Director of  Public Prosecutions would  decide whether to transfer the matter.

This led to Vybz Kartel being remanded until today.

The artiste, whose real name is Adijah Palmer, is charged jointly with Nigel Thompson and Lenburgh McDonald for the murder of  Barrington Burton.

Mr. Burton was shot dead last July, in Gregory Park, St Catherine.

Kartel was taken into custody in September for the murder of  Mr. Burton and another man, Clive Williams, who was killed in a house in Havendale, St Andrew.
