Incarcerated dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel is among several artistes on the provisional short list for the Best Reggae Album award at next year's Grammy's in Los Angeles.
Kartel’s 'Pon Di Gaza Mi Sey' album, released in October 2011, is one of 50 projects on the list.
Released a month after the entertainer's arrest on drug and subsequent murder charges, the album features many of Kartel’s hits dating back to 2008.
Another embattled dancehall entertainer, Busy Signal, has also been nominated for his album, 'Reggae Music Again'.
Other notables on the Best Reggae Album short list include Konshens, Sean Paul, Toots Hibbert, Jimmy Cliff and Mr. Vegas.
The 50 nominees for Best Reggae Album will be trimmed to five or six finalists when the full list of next year's nominees are announced on December 5 at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
The 55th annual Grammy Awards will take place on February 10, 2013
