Thirty people, including a man the police believe is wanted, were arrested Wednesday morning during a major police/military operation in Ackee Walk, St. Andrew.
Two men who the police have been investigating in relation to lottery scamming were also taken into custody.
Acting Superintendent Randy Sweeney, head of the St. Andrew North police division, said the five-hour operation began at 4 o'clock and was geared towards crime reduction and control.
The division has recorded five murders since the start of the year.
Almost a dozen illegal firearms have been seized and an assortment of ammunition.
Acting Superintendent Sweeney is appealing to law-abiding residents to report any strange activities and men in their community.
He is urging residents to report illegal activities to Crime Stop or contact the Constant Spring Police station at 876 924-1421.
