The number of staff members at Mandeville Regional Hospital who have tested positive for COVID-19 in recent days has increased to 34.
The hospital had reported 27 employees were infected up to Wednesday.
Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says the hospital is reorganizing its work flow and implementing its Surge Plan.
He says two microbiologists and a public health team are investigating the circumstances under which 27 members of the operating theatre and High Dependency Unit teams contracted the virus.
Since March last year, 61 staff members at the Mandeville Regional Hospital have tested positive for COVID-19.
Twenty seven of them have recovered and are back at work.
Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Alwyn Miller disclosed that investigations revealed that 10 of the active cases were likely contracted externally.
