4.8 magnitude earthquake hits southeast Grenada

The US Geological Service is reporting that a 4.8-magnitude earthquake occurred southeast of Grenada on Sunday.

The quake occurred at about 1:28 pm local time. 

A preliminary reading from the Seismic Research Institute at the University of the West Indies put the magnitude at 4.9 on the Richter scale. 

The quake occurred about 81 kilometres northeast of Roxborough in Tobago, 149 kilometres south-southwest of  Bridgetown. 

There were reports of weak shaking in St. George’s Grenada.
