Acting Director of Public Prosecutions Claudette Thompson has been granted an extension of six months in the job.
The extension was approved by the Public Service Commission and took effect on Tuesday.
Ms. Thompson's substantive position is Senior Deputy DPP.
She was appointed to act as the country's top prosecutor on April 22 this year after incumbent Paula Llewellyn stepped away to await a ruling from the constitutional court whether the State breached the Constitution by extending her stay in office.
The Constitutional Court ruled in April that an amendment to the Constitution that purportedly allowed Ms. Llewellyn to elect to remain on the job was null and void and of no legal effect.
Ms. Lllewellyn is now awaiting a ruling by the Court of Appeal on the matter.
