Western Resilience Water Project gets underway

The government has promised a complete transformation of the water supply for western parishes.
 
This under the Western Resilience Water Project, launched on Friday in Trelawny.
 
Matthew Samuda, Minister with responsibility for water, speaking at the ceremony, said the project is aimed at establishing linkages with water sources across western parishes.
 
He said nearly J$30 billion is being spent under phase one of the project to improve water supply in communities in Trelwawny, St. James and sections of Westmoreland and Hanover.
 
Mr Samuda is advising however that there will be dislocations and disruptions during the project.
 
He said phase two will include the construction of two water treatment plants at Rio Bueno, Trelawny and Roaring River in Westmoreland.
