Appeal Court reserves judgment in Shahine Robinson-Manley Bowen battle

The Jamaican Court of Appeal has reserved judgement in another round in the legal battle between Shahine Robinson, Member of Parliament for North East St. Ann, and Manley Bowen, a former MP for the same constituency.

The two have been locked in a fierce battle over the J$20 million awarded to Mr Bowen's attorneys as legal cost in the dual citizenship case he brought against Mrs. Robinson several years ago.

The attorneys for Mr. Bowen are appealing a 2013 ruling by Supreme Court judge, Justice Lennox Campbell, that they should only receive 4 million dollars.

Justice Campbell quashed a $15 million award, handed down by the Registrar of  the Supreme Court, following an appeal by Mrs. Robinson, who had challenged the amount.

However, Mr. Bowen's attorneys have challenged Justice Campbell's, decision, arguing that he did not have the authority to quash the cost awarded.
