Bahamas rejects Trump proposal to take deported migrants

The government of the Bahamas says it rejected a proposal from the incoming Trump administration in the United States to accept deported migrants.

As the president-elect pledges to tackle immigration once he enters office in January, Trump's team has drawn up a list of countries to which it wants to deport migrants when their home countries refuse to accept them.

The Bahamas government says since the Prime Minister's rejection of the proposal, there has been no further engagement or discussions with the Trump transition team.

Other countries being considered by the Trump team include Turks and Caicos Islands, Panama and Grenada.
