Bahamas sending team to Jamaica to assess whether direct flights can resume

Bahamasair is preparing to transport a delegation which includes Minister responsible for disaster management, Leon Lundy, to Jamaica to assess damage on the ground following Hurricane Melissa's catastrophic impact.

The team will determine whether flight service between the Bahamas and Jamaica can safely resume.

Bahamanian Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper confirmed that the mission will evaluate the feasibility of restarting operations after Montego Bay suffered widespread destruction when Melissa made landfall as a Category 5 hurricane.

The storm forced airport closures across the island, halting direct Bahamas to Jamaica flights.
