Two bodies found days ago have been confirmed to be a missing American couple vacationing in the Dominican Republic.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Dominican Republic Embassy in the US said Orlando Moore, who is also a Jamaican citizen, and Portia Ravenelle died in a car crash that occurred near the airport in Santo Domingo.
According to Dominican authorities, Ms Ravenelle managed to escape the crash as the rental car sunk under water.
She was taken to a nearby hospital unconscious.
Authorities said Ms Ravenelle did not have any documentation on her so they were unable to identify her until recently.
She died four days after being admitted to hospital.
Mr Moore's decomposed body was found a few days later in the sea.
Officials say the car is still underwater.
An investigation is being carried out.
