A British man was arrested at Sangster International Airport following the seizure of 12.5 pounds of ganja on Sunday.
He is 56-year-old Michael Meakin of Ketley Hill Road in England.
Detectives from the Narcotics Division say about 2:20 p.m., Mr. Meakin arrived at the airport to board a flight to Birmingham, England when security personnel scanned his luggage and anomalies were detected.
A thorough search was carried out and ten tins marked ‘ackees’ as well as soap boxes were found to contain ganja.
The ganja has an estimated street value of almost $70,000.
Mr. Meakin is to be interviewed in the presence of his attorney.
