Classes were disrupted and students sent home Thursday afternoon at Brown's Town High School in St. Ann after a fire threatened the school.
It is understood that an electrical short circuit on a Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) pole outside of the school grounds led to a fire on the main power source on a new section of the school.
However, there was very little structural damage due to quick action by staff members who used fire extinguishers to bring the fire under control.
Alfred Thomas, the school's principal, said an assessment will be done Thursday evening to determine if classes will resume on Friday.
