The police are searching for a man who disarmed a policeman while he was responding to a break-in at a house in St Andrew.
The suspect reportedly made off with the cop's service pistol after disarming him.
It is reported that on Monday afternoon, the policeman responded to a case of house-breaking and robbery with aggravation at a property along Whittington Way, Kingston 8.
It is believed that the policeman accosted the man and that there was a tussle, during which the suspect reportedly overpowered the cop and punched him in the face. The man also reportedly disarmed the policeman of his loaded service pistol.
The hoodlum allegedly pointed the weapon at the policeman before fleeing on foot in the area.
The police say the man is being sought in relation to larceny of a firearm, assaulting the policeman and resisting arrest.
The Inspectorate of Professional Standard Oversight Bureau of the Jamaica Constabulary Force is also probing the incident.
