Cabinet to receive report on explosion at RIU, Montego Bay today

The report on the circumstances which led to the April 20 explosion at the RIU Hotel in Montego Bay, St. James will be submitted to Cabinet on Monday.

This was disclosed by Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie in an interview with RJR News.

He has recommended that the report be tabled in Parliament.

The investigation was carried out by the Jamaica Fire Brigade.

The explosion resulted in the death of an employee and the injury of three others. 

Teams from the St. James Municipal Corporation, the National Works Agency, the Office of  Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management as well as the National Environment and Planning Agency reviewed the hotel’s operations.
