Car loans available for public school bursars

The over 300 bursars assigned to public schools can now begin applying for car loans with the allocation of funds to the revolving motor vehicle loan scheme.

This was revealed during a meeting on Wednesday involving the National Workers Union (NWU) and the Ministry of Finance.

Granville Valentine, NWU General Secretary, says Minister with responsibility for the Public Service, Horace Dalley, indicated that the money for the scheme is at the Ministry of Education and some of the schools.

The bursars have been restive over the delay in allocating funds for the loan scheme. However, the issue of a job reclassification exercise remains outstanding.

In the meantime, more discussions are to be held with the Ministries of Finance and Health regarding outstanding matters for Nurse Anesthetists and Practical Nurses.
The matters surround the reclassification of the Anesthetists and the withdrawal of the call-out allowance for the Nurses.
