Cayman Islands: Juliana O'Connor-Connolly sworn in as new Premier

Cayman's former Deputy Premier, Juliana O'Connor-Connolly, has been sworn in as the new Premier of the British Overseas Territory.

The move comes after the incumbent, Wayne Panton, survived a motion of no confidence in his PACT coalition government.

Following the resignation of Speaker Katherine Ebanks-Wilks in what was termed an effort to maintain stability and support the government in meeting its constitutional requirements, Mr. Panton will now become the Speaker of the Parliament.
